India Exploring Indigenous Foundational Model with Low Availability of Data
Initial investment should go into building globally interoperable and locally implementable datasets (As suggested by Additional Secretary Mahaveer Singhvi, New, Emerging and Strategic Technologies, Ministry of External Affairs during a high level roundtable discussion hosted by Asia Society Policy Institute and United Nations India on Feb 16, 2026). Without having a holistic, inclusive dataset in Indian languages, the foundational model building would be an uphill task.
